Lee Ballin
About Lee
Lee Ballin is the Head of Sustainable Business Programs at Bloomberg L.P. Reporting to the Chairman’s Office, the team aggressively integrates sustainability considerations into all operations and co-develops products and services for the Bloomberg Professional Service & Bloomberg Media, enabling our clients to evaluate sustainability market risks and opportunities. Lee works closely with media teams at Bloomberg to help forward-thinking brands showcase their sustainability efforts to the financial and business communities through a wide range of Bloomberg Media opportunities. Lee’s communications team develops best-in- class employee engagement programs, training curriculum for operating departments and Bloomberg’s GRI-based Sustainability Report, published annually. He is a frequent panelist at sustainability conferences and events speaking on topics ranging from sustainable supply chains, external reporting and employee engagement. Lee is a Fellow within the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society Programs First Mover Fellowship and a graduate of CORO Leadership New York, a civic leadership program. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business logistics from Pennsylvania State University Park and a MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business with a focus on finance and sustainability. He is an adjunct professor at the Pratt Institute, focusing on the intersection of Operations Management and Sustainable Business Strategy. He also is a faculty member at the NYU School of Professional Studies teaching a course on Corporate Social Responsibility and an advisor for the NYU Stern Center for Sustainable Business.
Marilyn A. Brown
About Marilyn
Marilyn A. Brown is the Brook Byers Professor of Sustainable Systems in the School of Public Policy at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she is Director of the Climate and Energy Policy Lab and a Presidential appointee to the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Valley Authority. Her current research focuses on the the design of public policy to promote clean energy systems, the integration of distributed resources into the electric grid, and the creation of jobs in the advanced energy economy. Previously she held leadership positions at Oak Ridge National Laboratory where she conducted several national climate change mitigation studies and became a leader in the analysis and interpretation of energy futures in the United States. She has authored more than 250 publications and five books including Green Savings: How Markets and Policies Drive Energy Efficiency (Praeger Press, 2015) and Fact and Fiction in Global Energy Policy (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2016). Among her honors and awards, she is a co-recipient of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for co-authorship of the report on Mitigation of Climate Change, she has served on eight committees of the National Academies of Sciences (currently on Geographical Sciences), and she is a member of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Electricity Advisory Committee.
Kevin Greiner
About Kevin
Kevin Greiner has served as Gas South’s President and CEO since the company’s founding in 2006. Since that time, Gas South has become one of the Southeast’s leading retail natural gas providers, roughly doubling in size to serve approximately 300,000 residential, business and governmental customers in competitive markets in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Mr. Greiner has over 15 years of experience in the energy industry, including prior management roles with Southern Company. Mr. Greiner is a community-minded executive who serves numerous non-profit organizations through board leadership roles. He served as the 2016-17 Chairman of the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education, Georgia’s leading education policy and advocacy organization. He serves on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Greater Atlanta and chaired their 2012-13 Workplace Campaign, which brought in over $77 million in community investment. In addition, Kevin serves on the Board of Governors for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and on the Boards of Directors for the Metro Atlanta Chamber, Buckhead Coalition and the YMCA of Metro Atlanta.
Steve Swartz

Steven is a partner in the McKinsey Center for Business and Environment and leads our Sustainable Enterprise service line, which pulls together McKinsey’s expertise across energy, water, clean technologies, operations and other disciplines to help clients develop and implement sustainability strategies that span the entire value chain. Steven provides pro bono assistance to several non-profit organizations promoting sustainability in consumer packaged goods and retail. Prior to joining McKinsey, he founded and ran a consulting firm that worked with industrial clients to integrate environmental strategies into their manufacturing processes.
Balaji Jayaseelan

Balaji manages the Global Sustainability at Newell Rubbermaid, He is responsible for developing managing and executing sustainability strategy across global business units. Main initiatives include managing the global energy management program, establishing management system processes, design towards green products and lead visualization/predictive data analytics practice. He is a Chemical Engineer with Masters in Environmental Management from Illinois Institute of Technology and MBA from Emory University.
Meredith Brown

Meredith Brown earned a dual degree with a BS in Environmental Studies and a Master of Public Health in Environmental Health from Emory University and Emory’s Rollins School of Public Health. She has a passion for the relationship between human and environmental health that has led to a commitment to sustainability. She has worked in the environmental health, safety and sustainability departments at Delta Air Lines, Home Depot and currently serves as the Recycling and Waste Reduction Manager at Cox Enterprises. Meredith is responsible for achieving the company’s goal of zero waste to landfill through cost and service optimizations, creative recycling solutions and employee engagement.
Eric Gebhardt

Eric Gebhardt is Vice President of Product Management at GE Energy Connections. In this role, Eric provides the overall strategic direction for the product portfolio across Energy Connections, bringing together commercial and operating functions to ensure alignment for successful product development as well as operational and commercial launches.
Eric is an Officer of the General Electric Company and has been engaged in the Energy Industry for his entire 25+ year career with GE. Eric is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering. He is also a frequent speaker at industry, government and academic forums and holds 9 patents.
Steve Tochilin

Steve Tochilin is general manager of environmental sustainability for Delta Air Lines. His team champions Delta’s efforts to reduce its environmental impact and engage employees and customers on environmental initiatives. Steve oversees Delta’s carbon management and environmental health programs, and coordinates company-wide reporting on environmental, social and governance performance. Steve has a bachelor’s degree in environmental toxicology from UC Davis, a master’s degree in environmental health from UC Berkeley, and an MBA from Georgia State. Steve has 37 years of environmental, health and safety experience, including 22 years at Delta. He is a fellow in the American Industrial Hygiene Association and past-chair of the ASHRAE aircraft cabin air quality standard committee.

John Spirtos, Executive Director, New Business Creation with GE Ventures. John has a strong entrepreneurial and operational background; he has spent nearly 18 years in the technology sectors as a senior executive of public and private venture-backed companies. Prior to beginning his work with GE, John was Executive Vice President of iconectiv, the interconnection communications division of LM Ericsson (NYSE – ERIC), responsible for global sales, marketing, corporate development and overall corporate strategy. Prior to joining Ericsson, John was CEO of GridPoint, Inc., a venture-backed provider of enterprise energy management solutions to Fortune 500 companies. GridPoint’s energy management systems have been deployed in nearly 15,000 locations in the US, Canada and the UK. Before joining GridPoint, John was Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Comverse Technology (NASD – CMVT), a $2.2B provider of communications billing software and solutions, and NeuStar, Inc. (NYSE — NSR), a provider of database registry services to the telecom and Datacom industries.
Alex Herceg

Alex Herceg leads global Smart Cities research at Lux Research, as a member of the Digital team. He regularly analyzes technologies, strategies, and business models of emerging companies related to the intersection of digitization, energy, and connectivity in the built environment. In this role he advises Lux’s large corporate clients on issues related to innovation, strategy, investments and partnerships, and product development. He regularly delivers keynote speeches at conferences and he has been quoted in Forbes, Eco-Business, Renewable Energy Focus, SonntagsZeitung, Fierce Cities, and many others. Alex joined Lux Research after working as a green building consultant for Canada’s leading sustainability consultancy MMM Group Ltd., based in Toronto. In this role, he advised real estate development clients on sustainability issues related to commercial and residential development projects. Prior to this, Alex spent time at MCW, where he held various positions in business development, engineering design, and energy services. Alex is a licensed Professional Engineer and LEED accredited professional for commercial building design and construction.
Kevin King

Kevin King has nearly a decade of experience in credit risk and fraud analytics, having served in a variety of roles at ID Analytics since joining the company in 2007 including analytics, business analysis, product strategy and professional services. In each of these roles, King has focused on applying ground breaking analytic tools to the unique financial services challenges, and has directly supported projects at top 10 banks, several “Big 4” wireless carriers, the two leading U.S. satellite television companies, and multiple leading cable and internet providers. A driving force behind ID Analytics’ thought leadership program, he has authored several thought leadership whitepapers on a range of topics spanning fraud, credit and identity risk. King holds a B.A. from the University of Colorado.

Chariti is the Software Product Manager for Automated Logic, engaging ALC’s customers, channels, and industry to identify key trends, needs and opportunities for software products. She has worked in the commercial controls industry since 1998, and utilizes her experiences as an end user of controls and as a corporate trainer to assist in her customer advocacy. She has actively participated in ASHRAE since 2000 on the technical committee for Control Theory and Application, and on the Guideline committee for Specifying a Building Automation System, and since 2002 on the Smart Buildings technical committee. Tim Ritchie serves as Vice President of Sales and Account Management at Buddy Platform, an innovative Internet of Things company focused on reducing environmental impact while saving customers money by enabling them to quickly and easily identify and correct resource waste in their buildings. A geek and tree-hugger at heart, Tim has sought opportunities throughout his career to use technology to reduce environmental impact. For Tim, IoT is more than tens of billions of devices generating exabytes of data, it’s the potential of a network of sensors and technologies intelligently working in concert to fundamentally improve the human condition and positively impact the environment.
With twenty five years of experience in customer-facing roles, nearly half of that with SaaS companies, Tim has helped clients like Apple, Accenture, Starbucks, CBS, Microsoft, Vodafone, and March of Dimes navigate complex technology ecosystems and take advantage of the unique opportunities new technologies present to solve problems and drive new business models.
Tim takes a client-centric approach to customer and prospect engagements, looking to deeply understand client’s challenges and objectives, then bringing Buddy’s solutions and his network to bear on driving positive business outcomes.
Tim currently serves as an advisor to a number of young technology companies, is a speaker at the University of Washington school of entrepreneurship, and actively participates in IoT industry events in North America and abroad to increase awareness of the potential of the Internet of Things to reduce resource waste, deliver new and amazing customer experiences, solve difficult problems, and increase revenue.
Vladi Shunturov

Vladi led Lucid’s early product and engineering teams and has driven the evolution of the company from its inception in 2004. A recipient of awards from U.S. EPA and Cleantech Open, Vladi has dozens of widely-cited publications in the field and has delivered many distinguished presentations, including at TEDx. Vladi helped pioneer groundbreaking research in commercial building monitoring systems and real-time feedback technology. Vladi holds a BA with high honors in Environmental Studies and Computer Science from Oberlin College.
Juliette Apicella
About Juliette
Juliette Apicella serves as the Director of Sustainability for Gables Residential, an award winning, vertically integrated, real estate company and privately held REIT. Gables specializes in development, construction, ownership, acquisition, financing and management of multifamily and mixed-use communities. She is responsible for the overall direction and coordination of the sustainability program for Gables. Prior to this role, she worked at Southface Energy Institute as the program manager supporting the Atlanta Better Buildings Challenge, led by the City of Atlanta, Mayor’s Office of Sustainability. Juliette has over 28 years of experience in the energy efficiency, commercial green building and design industries. Prior to joining Southface in 2011, Juliette developed marketing and outreach campaigns for energy efficiency programs and managed commercial design projects in low- and high-rise buildings working with national corporate clients through-out the United States. Juliette is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in Interior Architecture. She is a LEED accredited professional and serves as a member of the City of Decatur, Environmental Sustainability Board.
Chris Happ
About Chris
Mr. Happ has more than 15 years in enterprise software and management consulting experience including supply chain software implementation and process optimization for Fortune 50 companies including ExxonMobil, Disney, Southwest Airlines, Pfizer, and JPMorgan. He began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers management consulting and went on to Ariba where he led the technical strategy and architecture group. After Ariba, he co-founded blueSolutions, a supply chain optimization and software implementation consultancy which was acquired by SAP reseller, Hubwoo.
Since 2009, Happ has been focused on enabling owners and managers to run better buildings through Goby’s cloud based energy management and best practices. He is an avid reader — currently reading Thinking, Fast and Slow — loves behavioral economics, enjoys the statistics of baseball and played in the Little League World Series.
Happ still personally codes much of the Goby Cloud platform as a way to relax.

Krystal Maxwell

Krystal Maxwell is a research analyst with Navigant Research. She currently focuses on market analysis of the lighting sector, including emerging markets for lighting technologies; connected and smart lighting for commercial and residential buildings; and lighting controls. Previously, Maxwell was Navigant Research’s client service lead, facilitating communications and customer service with the group’s global client base.
Prior to joining Navigant Research, Maxwell was an event specialist and sales manager at A Spice of Life Catering and Events, working with a variety of clients from the sale, to planning, to execution of their events. She has also worked as an assistant manager at Century Theatres and as an office administrator at the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors. Maxwell holds a BA in political science, with a minor in German, from Occidental College and studied abroad at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany.

Patricia is a General Partner of Oak HC/FT where she focuses on growth equity and early-stage venture opportunities exclusively in financial services technology. Since Oak HC/FT’s launch in June 2014, Patricia has led the fund’s investments in Insureon, Trov, Poynt, Fastpay, Feedzai and Urjanet and sits on the boards of each.Patricia joined Oak Investment Partners as a Venture Partner in 2002 and continues to serve on the Boards of Duedil and Freshbooks. Mike Mondelli

Mike is the SVP of Alternative Data Strategy & Business Development for TransUnion’s $800 million+ Financial Services Division. In this role Mike coordinates the integration of L2C’s team and assets with TransUnion’s legacy data, analytic and technology assets. Beyond acquisition integration, Mike focuses on business and product development strategies for Financial Service clients leveraging incremental data to TransUnion’s traditional consumer credit file.
Mike previously served as the CEO of L2C, Inc., which he co-founded in 2000. He led the Business and Product Development strategic functions for L2C, Inc. from the founding of the Company until its acquisition by TransUnion in 2015. L2C led the consumer credit industry by creating consumer credit scoring algorithms leveraging alternative credit bureau data. Alternative credit bureau data are defined as data incremental to the industry’s traditional three credit bureau files that can be compliantly used for consumer credit scoring. L2C was the first Credit Reporting Agency (CRA) to convert its database infrastructure to an open source Hadoop framework housing data for over 260 million US consumers. Mike and his team achieved broad adoption of L2C’s service offerings by 60% of the top US banks and Mike led the development of innovative Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) compliant Reseller Agreements with TransUnion & Equifax for distribution of L2C solutions to all connected lenders. Before co-founding L2C in March 2000, Mike worked for seven years in the securities business with Morgan Keegan Company as a First Vice President where he was advisor to several burgeoning technology companies.
Mike graduated from The University of the South with a BA in Economics and received his MBA in Finance from Georgia State University. He is married with one son and enjoys spending time with his family, cycling and traveling.

Steve Ely

Steve Ely is the CEO of eCredable, a credit bureau based in Alpharetta, Georgia. There are 45 million “credit invisibles” in the United States – people who cannot access affordable financial services due to a lack of a traditional credit score. eCredable works directly with these consumers to help them cross the credit chasm by scoring how they pay rent, utilities, mobile phone, and insurance. Mainstream lenders use this score in underwriting to provide the consumer access to credit cards, personal loans, auto loans, and home loans. The result – the consumer’s monthly payments are reported to the three major credit bureaus, which helps them build a traditional credit score.
From late 2005 through 2009, Steve was President of Equifax Personal Information Solutions, which provides credit-related products to consumers that help them manage their credit health, protect themselves against identity theft, and improve their overall financial well-being. Prior to this role, Steve was responsible for global product development at Equifax.
Prior to joining Equifax in 2004, Steve led worldwide marketing and software development at S1 Corporation, the first software company to provide Internet banking. Steve has held various roles in numerous technology companies since 1978, spanning software development, marketing, sales, and general management.
Steve is a graduate of the Institute of Computing Management in Pittsburgh, PA. He also completed the Emory University Goizueta Executive Program.
James Curry
About James
James Curry has over 15 years of experience in information technology, energy use, building automation, and retail project management. His experience as an Energy Consultant has included work in numerous new and renovated buildings in corporate, health care, and higher education facilities. Prior to joining Newcomb & Boyd, James was an Energy Manager for a major national retailer, where he was charged with managing all energy procurement and demand side management for all stores and distribution centers. James has significant cross-functional management experience including collaboration, teaching best practices, and leading team members in high-visibility corporate energy and sustainability initiatives. Through his leadership of analysists, administrators, and interns through complex energy analysis and projects, large-scale capital spending on energy projects averaged $5M annually in his tenure with returns exceeding the 30% mark. James holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on Finance. He is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
Michael Pridemore

Michael Pridemore is widely considered a pioneer of the email marketing and marketing automation software industry. Previously, Pridemore served as CEO and co-founder of Socketware, Inc. the maker of Accucast. He grew it to be a global leader in the space before its successful acquisition. Pridemore is also the founder of Sockethead Studios and uses his technology development and corporate management experience to create and market consumer applications. With a passion for helping entrepreneurs, Pridemore serves corporate boards and is active in his community along with his wife Tricia. He is an alum of the University of Central Florida.
Duncan O’Brien
About Duncan
Duncan O’Brien is senior vice president and general manager of corporate strategy and investments for Cox Enterprises, a leading communications, media and automotive services company. He leads Cox’s corporate strategy and a team that focuses on diversification and long-term growth outside of the company’s core businesses. He also serves as an advisor to Cox’s existing portfolio of companies as they explore growth opportunities.
O’Brien has three decades of experience in corporate mergers, acquisitions and investments. He served as senior managing director of M&A transitions for TIAA-CREF in New York City, with responsibility for leading the integration of TIAA-CREF’s $6.25 billion acquisition of Nuveen Investments. Prior to TIAA-CREF, he was general manager of global business development at General Electric Company, where he focused on GE’s Aviation and Transportation businesses, GE Capital, the Global Research Center, GE Ventures, the Software Center of Excellence, Acquisition Integration, and the company’s operations in China and sub-Saharan Africa. He also led training courses on M&A, negotiations, acquisition integration, and joint ventures and other partnerships.
Prior to GE, he formed his own company, Crescendo Capital Partners, LLC, an investment banking and private investment boutique in Kansas City, served as vice chairman and director of investment banking for George K. Baum and Company, a regional investment banking firm headquartered in Kansas City, and held a number of different positions at Goldman, Sachs and Co., where he provided financial advisory, capital raising, and M&A advisory services and led the company’s Australasian business from 1993 to 1995.
O’Brien received a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s of business administration degree from Stanford University.
